As I mentioned earlier, lots of the early Indian immigrants were Sikhs. BUt I doubt many Americans at the time could tell the difference.

BTW, do you know why some African Americans have ch1nky little eyes? It's not just from intermarriage with Native American Indians. A lot of Chinese moved to the US South a hundred years ago to set up grocery stores. At first they were considered blacks since they weren't white, so many married/screwed black women and had kids by them. Later when social attitudes and laws changed to the effect that Chinese were legally considered whites in some southern states (not California ofcourse) due to not being black, they immediately ditched their black wives and children in order not to be associated with the low-"caste" blacks.

It's not only Indians who are racist in the United States. Chinese are probably the worst racists, especially those born here, the only reason it's not noticed as much is because they're not as violent about it as whites are.
