The point being that people are quick to just toss the label "torture" out their, usually in an attempt to score a few cheap political points. They do not understand the very fine line between what is actual torture and what is not.
The GITMO guys are claiming "torture" based on a bad meal or a female prison guard looking at them or some other inane excuse because they know it feeds a certain political bias that they can play off as useful idiots. The cr@p that Saddam did in his prisons, thats torture. Not having a steak cooked exactly to medium rare, thats bad resteraunt service.
Actual torture does not work, nor is it intended to. The captor does not care about whatever info may be gleaned (and probably wouldn't recognize any real intel anyways). It only satisfies his own psychological need to be in power.
